INDULGE YOUR INNER CHILD WITH JELLE BAKKER’S TSUNAMI MARBLE RUN
Lots of kids play with marbles, but Jelle Bakker has taken the hobby to a whole new level with the Marble Tsunami – a giant obstacle course for 11,000 marbles, comprising a series of tip-trays, slides, sharp drops, bells and chimes.
On show in the Netherlands now as part of the Gouda ‘Monkey Town Indoor Playground’, the Marble Tsunami is a big kid’s delight. With multiple different routes for the marbles to take, every inch of the course has been carefully designed to create a frantic, frenetic run which is beautiful in its sheer ingenuity.
There is one small hitch though, as 11,000 marbles running along a plastic and metal track is almost deafening for anyone standing too close. Luckily, Bakker promises that noise-dampening materials will be used while it’s on tour so viewers can let their inner child’s dream come true in peace.
